Instructions
- Preheat the oven: Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Combine dry ingredients: In a small bowl, mix together flour, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
- Cream butter and sugars: In a large mixing bowl, beat butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar, and vanilla extract until creamy.
- Add eggs: Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
- Gradually add dry ingredients: Slowly add the flour mixture to the wet ingredients, mixing until fully combined.
- Stir in chocolate and nuts: Fold in chocolate chips and nuts (if desired).
- Shape dough: Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto ungreased baking sheets.
- Bake: Bake for 9 to 11 minutes or until cookies are golden brown.
- Cool: Cool cookies on the baking sheets for 2 minutes, then transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
- For softer cookies, slightly underbake them by removing them from the oven when the edges are golden, but the centers still look slightly soft.
- Add a pinch of cinnamon or espresso powder to enhance the flavor of the chocolate.
